Lesley Whiting Barbasetti di Prun

Lesley Whiting Barbasetti di Prun acts as the liaison between AWAR and the Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas - www.fawco.org. She reads and processes material from FAWCO and decides how it may best serve our club. She attends the FAWCO Conference, Interim and Regional meetings.  She answers questionnaires, other requests and circulates newsletters received from FAWCO clubs in our region.  She writes articles for The AWAR Forum to keep our membership informed about the annual FAWCO Foundation scholarships for members and their children and FAWCO's philanthropic projects. She also has duties toward FAWCO directly. Lesley's two-year, elected, volunteer term expires in June 2009.

Lesley has thoroughly enjoyed living in Rome for 26 years (interrupted by 14 years of living in New York). She graduated from Syracuse University as a Psychology major and married Gerardo in 1967, followed by the birth of their two children.

Her work experience has varied from training real estate brokers in Westchester County to a ten-year administrative and promotional involvement in a joint venture of architects and engineers responsible for the design and construction of Baghdad Medical City.  Upon returning to Rome in 1992, four years were spent in a logistics firm as a liaison between the firm’s suppliers and foreign clients.  Then finally, enjoying a six-year ‘stint’ as the AWAR Office Manager!  During this period, she has also enjoyed teaching English to private students after receiving her CELTA certificate from Cambridge University.

Traveling, reading/research and walking around Rome, rate very high as leisure activities.

Lesley finds the position as FAWCO Representative particularly appealing due to its involvement with important international issues.
