Magdalena Morgese Borys keeps the financial records of the Association which includes a complete documentation of receipts and disbursements of all funds. She submits a written monthly report to the Board showing income, expenses, bank balance and petty cash totals; she submits a receipt and disbursement quarterly report to the Board; and an annual report at the June joint Board meeting. She prepares a financial statement and prepares the financial records to be reviewed by an independent, professional auditor at the close of each year. Magdalena works closely with an Assistant Treasurer whom she appoints. Magdalena's one-year, elected, volunteer term expires in June 2009. Magdalena Morgese Borys was born in Gdansk, Poland. She graduated from Gdansk University, Poland, Faculty of Business Management, in June 2000 with a M.S. in Management. After moving to U.S. in 2000, she received a M.A. in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, Michigan in August 2001. Following her graduation she moved to Washington, DC to work as an Economist at PlanEcon, a consulting company specializing in Central and Eastern European countries. In December 2001 she took a position as a Research Associate at the National Academy of Public Administration, a nonprofit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress that conducts studies aimed at improving the performance of public and non-profit sectors. In 2003 she relocated to the Czech Republic, where she enrolled in the doctoral study program at CERGE-EI, Charles University, Prague. She received M.A. degree in Economics in 2006 and was a recipient of a World Bank Fellowship in 2004. Since September 2006, she holds a Junior Researcher position at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. She arrived in Rome in August 2006, following her husband Colonel Frank Morgese on his new three-year assignment as the U.S. Military Attaché to Italy.
